Nominations for the 2018 AULSS Executive will open in August 2018.
If you wish to run for a position, you need to fill out an election nomination form (download link available on the right of this page) and deliver it to the AULSS office in August (slip it under the door if nobody is there – attention AVP AULSS). Dates will confirmed closer to the time. Your nomination will be confirmed by email once it has been received. You may also email your form to avp.aulss@gmail.com.
Successful candidates will be in for a year of fantastic experiences. Being on the Executive is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills, to get involved at law school, and to have a significant effect on the law school environment.
Being on the AULSS Executive for 2019 will represent a significant commitment for the successful candidates, but please don't be discouraged by this. Current and past Executive members have managed their responsibilities around Honours, the Law Revue, work commitments, and so on.

1. What positions can I run for?
There are a variety of positions that you can run for. Some are individual positions, while others must be held jointly between two people. Click here to find out more about the positions you can run for. 2. Do I have to be a member of AULSS to run for a position? YES. If you’re not a member, but wish to run for a position or vote, you will need to sign up as a member first. Email the secretary at secretary.aulss@gmail.com to organise a time for you to sign up. 3. How do I nominate myself for a position? If you wish to run for a position you need to fill out an election nomination form and deliver it to the AULSS office, attention AULSS Secretary (slip it under the door if nobody is there). Email secretary.aulss@gmail.com for a nomination form. 4. Can I nominate myself for more than one position? NO. So choose wisely! 5. When do nominations open? Nominations open in August 2018 - watch this space for specific dates. 6. When do nominations close? Dates to be confirmed. 7. Can I run for a position if I’m going away on an international exchange next year? Preferably no. Each AULSS executive position is a full-year commitment, and requires you to be in Auckland for the entirety of your term. 8. Can I run for a position if I’m not going to be enrolled in classes at uni next year? NO. You need to be enrolled in classes for the whole term of the office you take up. 9. I’ve put my nomination forward in writing. When can I start campaigning? You can only start campaigning once nominations have closed and your nomination has been confirmed via email by the AVP. |
10. What are the rules for campaigning?
Click here for the rules for campaigning. If you fail to comply with these rules, your posters will be removed and you may be penalised votes. The returning officer will be emailing the nominees with further instructions on campaigning with the confirmation of their nominations, as well as after the closing of nominations. Otherwise, be creative! 11. How do I vote in the elections?
12. Can I join the AULSS on Election Day? Yes, you may join AULSS at any time. 13. Can I join the AULSS if I'm not a law student? Yes – however you will not be able to vote in elections. 14. When will the results of the election be announced? The results will be announced at 5:00pm on the final day of voting at the AGM in the law café, or at a time close to that. The winners will also be notified via email.
